New Name: Sacred Rocks

Some of you may be wondering about this name change development that you see in the newsletter and in more and more places. The primary reason is that our entire 163 acres are so much more than the RV park — we want to show the bigger picture to everyone. We are adding to what we currently offer.

You might think this has something to do with religion, but it does not! The name evokes more of the Native American respect for the land and nature that we all can appreciate, yet, it is not focused on any specific culture or customs.

  • Sacred Rocks Reserve is the name for the whole land – primarily to focus visitors on the nature aspect as a place to go for recreation.
  • Sacred Rocks RV Park is Outdoor World RV Park and will continue operating in the same way.
  • Sacred Rocks Mountain Homes is the area up around the circle that are personally designed getaways. Affordable, nature retreat sites are available for long-term leases. RV Park Model homes are for sale, although one can purchase from anywhere and place them here.
  • Sacred Rocks Retreat is the ability to use the land either on a daily basis or longer for purposes of retreat, or learning, or teaching groups in a nature setting, away from noise and chaos of the city.
  • Sacred Rocks Events offers the back acreage to large groups – up to 2000 for big events like re-enactments and festivals.

Outdoor World RV Park Re-named Sacred Rocks RV Park; Surrounding
Land to Be Christened Sacred Rocks Reserve August 1 in Boulevard, CA

Boulevard, CA – The RV and tent camping park, formerly known as Outdoor World RV Park, has been renamed Sacred Rocks RV Park by owners Sharon and Dimitri Courmousis, and the surrounding 163 acres of wilderness trails, which they own and make available to campers. The entire property (previously un-named) will be christened Sacred Rocks Reserve on August 1. The RV Park’s operations will continue unchanged, and plans to add to the offerings available at the property also are in the works. A new website is planned to go live in August. Sacred Rocks RV Park is located at 1331 Shasta Way in Boulevard, California, approximately 65 miles East of San Diego along Interstate 8. For more information, call: 619-766-4480 or visit: www.sacredrocksreserve.com.

Guests to the property will see the massive boulders that inspired the new name and logo.

“We actually decided to name the entire land reserve and to change the name of the RV Park for a number of reasons,” says Sharon Courmousis. “The expanse of wilderness that’s here for people to explore is so much more than just the RV Park. We plan to make Sacred Rocks Reserve a destination for all kinds of nature lovers.” She adds that the name also was chosen because it fits in with the Courmousis family’s philosophy about preserving the land for future generations. “The reverence that Native American culture has for the land is something we can all appreciate, and our new name, Sacred Rocks Reserve, is in that same spirit.”

Courmousis explains that families love being at the property because they have time to play together, and says that the lack of distraction helps families to reconnect while they are there. “Activities here are simple and fun,” she says. Surrounded by the outcroppings of giant rocks, 400-year old oak trees and plenty of fresh mountain air, families of all ages can hike, climb rocks, go off-roading, bird watch, read, lounge in a hammock, swim in the new outdoor pool, or soak in the spa.

The park also offers a 100-foot outdoor labyrinth (the largest in California) laid out on the ground in an ancient form, which provides a place to walk or meditate. Other historic and outdoor activities within a short drive include the San Diego Historic Train museum and the scenic village of Tecate, Mexico.
Courmousis adds that future plans for Sacred Rocks Reserve include making part of the property available for group retreats and designating an area for special events.

“We have worked very hard to restore this land — now it’s wild and beautiful again and we love being able to share it with people,” she says.

Sacred Rocks RV Park (formerly Outdoor World RV Park) is situated within Sacred Rocks Reserve, a 163-acre wilderness playground for RV enthusiasts, campers, hikers, nature lovers and retreat seekers. Located in Boulevard, California, a mere hour’s drive from San Diego along Interstate 8, the Park is nestled in the hills, near the head of the gorgeous Pacific Crest Trail. 151 extra large RV sites with complete hookup facilities are available, as well as a tent camping area, bunkhouse, general store, clubhouse, shower facilities and an outdoor pool and spa and WiFi service.

Sacred Rocks Mountain Homes — a limited number of cottage style, manufactured weekend homes, in a rustic setting, will soon be available at Sacred Rocks Reserve. Tours of model homes coming soon.
